Motor runs and startes great but lately it has started bogging down around 45 mph. Let off the gas and when is gets to around 30 it will pick back up. Someone told me theirs did this and they had water in the gas. I install a Yamaha water/fule seperator this weekend and took it out. Ran great and was running in the high 60's all morning. Then it started acting up again. I noticed that it seems to start when the fule gauges are showing 1/2 a tank and it seem to get worse the lower the gas. My son had it out on Memorial Day weekend and said the same thing runs great with tanks alomost full but started doing it to him at around 1/2 tank or so.

I pulled the pick up lines out of the tanks and both of them were good. I noticed when I went to pump up the bulb it sounded like there was air going back to the tanks, but I could see the gas in the fuel filter move. The bulb never would pump up it stayed soft.

Re: 97 Yamaha 200 Vmax

its not a Vmax its a pro series 200 trim and tilt 20" shaft remote control 1998 production ron motor.
its a 2.6L carburated motor.
by your description either a fuel pump diaphram has failed or a needle valve is leaking.

Re: 97 Yamaha 200 Vmax

Thanks for the help. What I couldn't figure out is it would run great one time then start acting up the next time I took off. I'll replace the diaphrams first and see what happens
