!973 50hp leg unit replacement

The leg has to be replaced on my 1973 50hp Mercury.. I found a guy that has a leg from a 84/85 50hp Merc. he says it will fit on my motor, is he correct? also the skeg has a small piece broke off the tip & has a small bend in it, can these be rebuilt & straightened, or will it work fine leaving it as is??

I also found just the shaft from a 1973 Mercury 85 hp.. will it fit inmy leg??

Does it matter if the leg comes off a short shaft or long shaft, are they interchangeable??
