Guys,

I recently obtained a 1974 Resorter where the previous owner stated it needed new wood. After I pulled the carpet, I saw what I thought was fiberglass over the old deck. What I found was fiberglass over the old foam. I removed part of the fiberglass and the foam all looks good. Do I need to pull the old fiberglass or can I put the floor over the old fiberglass. I was not expecting this. The picture is below.

Any help is appreciated

Have you taken a core sample of the foam? A plug the entire depth of the foam down to the hull to make sure it isn't saturated midway down?

Back up with the camera and let's see some more of the boat, it doesn't look like your stringers are in too good of shape. Have you drilled them for internal samplings to see if the wood is light colored and dry or dark and moist?

Attached are some more photos. The main stringers appear good and the foam is dry. I am unsure how to proceed. I was expecting to see the rotting floor attached to something other that foam. I am new to restoring boats. What am I missing.
