Any one out there with the same boat? I have a rpm gauge that is reading too high 1100-1200 idle and full throttle almost pegs out the guage. I know I am no where near the rpms it shows. Was working and just last two times out started acting strange. I am leading towards corrosion. Tapping the gauge has no effect. Do not know where to really start looking first besides the gauge itself, which looks clean.
Thanks

Dunga,

If you will look under your dash, on the back of your tachometer there should be a small hole with a dial that a flat head screwdriver will fit into. I forget what this thing is called (the phase setting or some strange term) but it has to be in the correct position for your RPMs to read correctly. It's hard to know exactly which position is the corect one, but trial and error works pretty good. I thing there are only 8 or 10 positions on the thing if its like mine. Oh yeah, on some you have to push in before they will turn, don't want you to break it! Anyway, try that, hope it helps.

No, once set it should keep.

I'd look all wires over. Even a small amount of corrosion, loose connection or bad layout (interferrence) could cause misreadings. A (non expensive) workshop motor meter would be a good reference whan you want to know the actual rpm.
