Hey all,

I bought a 2 cylinder 25hp Johnson (1998) tiller long shaft for my 1996 lund rebel 14. The motor did not come with a prop, so unfortunately I don't have a lot of background information to base this off of. The guy said he used a 12 pitch stainless prop with it on his boat.

I know I can't just get the perfect answer with this amount of information-- I was hoping someone might have a recommendation for me to start with, though. The parts diagram seems to indicate that the 10x13 was stock, so I was considering starting from there since I'm going in blind. It's for fishing so I don't need to get the absolute top performance, but I still want the boat to run well :).

The boat is similar to the current model lund fury 14, which specs say is around 525 lbs. I will be going with aluminum for the prop.

Thanks in advance.

Sounds reasonable. Did he ever indicate the GPS top speed? A Solas Amita 3 is a good prop/value.

I realize many sellers can't help themselves from "Puffing"..."This boat flies and can keep up with my buddies 100hp, which he's been clocked at 40mph"!

He said he clocked it at 28, which seems about right, I clocked mine with my previous at about 24 and my boat's pretty heavy, even for a long shaft. That motor's the mercury counterpart (same year) and also has a 13" pitch so that reinforces that thought. I'll probalby pull the trigger-- thanks.

I think a 12" might be a better starting point.
