Hi everyone, this is my first post here but whenever i have an issue this is the place I go to find help and would like to thank you for this great forum. Last time i was out with my boat it started to run rough, limped it back, pulled the spark plugs and on #2 plug the electrode was gone tried fishing around with a magnet didn't get anything, replaced the plugs runs better but not like it used to especially at idle, rev it up a little 1200-1500 rpm "seems" to run fine. Also when running i removed oil fill cap and there seemed to be a lot of blow by i put my hand over the hole and could feel the air pressure pushing past. My thinking is that piece of electrode is either stuck in a valve or did some valve or seat damage on the way out. The first thing i was going to do was compression test, if it fails start tearin until i find the cause. Does anyone have any thoughts or ideas of other things to check or try.

Thanks Al

Re: 98 3.0 Troubles

Sounds like the perfect time for a compression test.
Was that electrode broken off, or melted off? Have you heard any pinging?

Re: 98 3.0 Troubles

I was referring to pinging prior to the problem.
