Hi guys I’m down the shore for the week and I’ve been having a problem with my motor. It’s a dual 1998 90 Johnson. The one motor runs like a top. The other one has been cutting out intermittently. First thing I noticed it would stall out. So I thought or think it was a fuel issue. One thing I noticed was the prime bulb would get soft after a little while and the clear inline fuel filter would run low. So I kinda did a test. I ran it and while looking at the filter when it would run low I would pump the bulb and it would run fine. This only happened for a little while though and then the filter would stay full with fuel and it would run fine, but eventually it would die out again. So I look at the filter and it’s full of fuel so I don’t think it still could be a problem from the lines to the fuel separator to the motor?
Then it would run and shut off once I would put it underload like just cut off. Then I would restart and it would then shut off sometimes. It’s intermittent but defiantly a problem. When it would run it would run great. Then I stop and shut them off and it would happen.
Could it be air in the line? Like from the pick up to the fuel separator to the fuel filter inline? Sometimes I saw bubbles in the filter. I’m limited with what I can do here cause I have no tools but just would like a idea of where to start.
Thanks

Hey thanks for the reply. Is there any way I can test it ? I was thinking of pulling the line off and Turning on and see if it is sucking ?

If it runs when you squeeze the bulb, and doesn't run if you don't, then it's not getting fuel to the carbs.

post model number, two different 90 hp that year.

do you mix oil or put it in a separate tank?

do both motors run off one tank?

There is a separate tank for oil and yes both motors run off the same tank. I’ll post the model number tomorrow morning when is light out .
