hi guys ive been having a problem with my 98 90 hp johnson this past summer and am now at a lose of what to try next. let me start by saying motor does run fine once underway. motor will start up and idle fine.
the issue though is when I give it throttle it will stall.
this problem is resolved when at idle if I repeatly push in the key choke button, then give it throttle it will go and run fine and not stall. But, if i stop for a while lets say 15-20 minutes and go to restart the motor and give it throttle the problem arises again and I do the same process over again.
I replaced the fuel pump didnt see to make much difference.
I have removed all the carbs soaked and cleaned them multiple times and that still has not solved the problem. When working on the carbs I did not see any clogged up jets or any obstruction. carbs themself looked to be in good shape no rips or tears in the gaskets. Butterflys open and close fine.
Also, i ran the motor on a aux gas tank to see if it was something up stream related. The problem still was there running it on the aux tank made no difference.
So I assume it is safe to say it is something on the motor iself. to which i have no idea is the cause.
at this point i have learned to deal with this problem and try to enjoy the summer with this issue. But, it is still very annoying and really would like it to run fine like the other motor. BTW its dual motor the other motor is the same one and runs perfectly fine. any help would be great thanks.

serial number is J90SLECM.

Carburetor bowls often warp on those 60 degree loopers.-----Having to operate the primer solenoid valve points to carburetor issues.-----The fuel that goes through the primer valve bypasses the carburetors.

I never say buy " new parts "----I try and teach the concept of inspection / trouble shooting.----Look at them and decide what to do.----Complete carburetors if available will be big $ item.
