98 Bayliner Capri 1800 with force 120

I have never owned a boat before. I know this is a crazy question but here it goes. I have a 98 Bayliner Capri with a 98 Force 120. I purchased the boat and when I purchased it I asked the owner do you have to mix gas and oil he says no. I thought it was strange cause I was sure through the research I did that it was a 2 stroke. I get it home and take it out and it starts right up but doesn’t like to stay idled. Runs ok once you get going but at idle it revs up and down. I take it home and I start looking for an oil tank and I can’t find one. I look all over. I call the previous owner and he says he is sure he never had to mix gas and oil so I ask him where he added his oil he says he didn’t. I might be dumb with motors but that didn’t make any sense at all to me. He also tells me that the owner before him told him he had it for 8 years and never added oil. So I know this is a 2 stroke and I’m not sure the guy who owned it before me took it more than twice. What am I missing here? Is there a chance that I’m missing the oil tank or is there a chance this guy who owned it before me just didn’t know? I know he said there was half a tank the day before I bought it and he went and filled up with gas and didn’t add any oil and when I run it besides the idle issue of either shutting off or idling high to low there doesn’t seem to be any issues how can I tell if it’s self injecting oil? Where would I look? Please any pointers would help.

I bought a 98 bayliner capri 1800 with a 98 force 120. It’s supposed to be a 2 stroke but I asked the previous owner to show me how he mixed the oil and the gas and he said he didn’t. I asked him you mean you never put oil in the gas and he said no and neither did the guy before me and he had the boat for 8 years. The guy I was talking to owned it for 2 years but only took it out a couple of times. I took it out and it ran ok besides idling up and down all the time at low idle or it just dies but starts right up. I’ve searched this boat and I can’t find a place to put the oil. I’ve heard this boat came self injected but then I’ve heard that it didn’t and that I better get oil and gas mixture in it before I run it again. I’m lost I don’t know ways to do. There is a language barrier between me and the previous owner so I got a translator just to be sure and he said he never added oil to gas so maybe it is self injected but where would I look to know this? How can I tell. Where would I find the oil pump or tank? And if he is wrong and should have been mixing gas and oil all this time should I drain the gas and start over? I’m sorry I’ve never owned a boat. This is my first one. I’m starting to regret the purchase of a 2 stroke Force. No one in my area will even look at it for me.

thanks

jesse
if someone feels like calling me to walk me through this I’d owe ya for a lifetime

The parts book does not show any kind of oil injection tank or system.----Best to do a compression test on this motor.

The Force 120 is not oil injected.
oil must be mixed with the gas.
50:1 ratio.

2.6 ounces of oil for every gallon of gas.

16 ounces of oil for every 6 gallons of gas.

Take a look at the gas in the tank.
Your gas should be tinted blueish green.

NO Force ever had oil injection.

Now you need to check for damage if NOBODY ever added oil to the gas???
Maybe that's why the guy sold it???
Compression test?
Get a snake camera for the smart phone. $11 check the cylinder walls and pistons for damage.

Nothing wrong with the Force 2 stroke other than being a little harder on gas than the newer motors.
