discovered water in the cylinders again and even worse, the top cyclinder had some nasty scoring in it...

got a price from a local guy to rebuild for around $1500... does this sound legit?

Water in cylinders "again",scored piston/cylinder.I think I would take the $1,500 and put it toward a more mainlline motor and part out the Force on ebay.

yeah! but... the first time was my own work (I am no mechanic) and I am not %100 sure I even found the problem for the water leak... I simply replaced the head gasket, thinking that was the problem... Where could the water be coming from? I see no cracks (to my untrained eye) in the head or head cover... the head cover does not appear to be warped either...???

So hows tha coming baxtr? i finally found my Tilt/Trim pump insted of a used for 150-180 i got a NEW for 239 on ebay gonna toss that sucker on there when i get a chance and drop that baby in the water i need to get a solinoid also for it as mine has clunked out just sitting there! i havnt started it in about a month so im going to do that im also going to decarb it before it goes on the water again too... its getting into great boating weather down here its my fav time of the year 75 and low humidity till about late december still got a few months of boating for me =) hope all does well...

as for the topic, Sorry =) if i had to pay to have mine rebuilt i would repower to tell you the truth. or atleast upograde to a newer model force like 94 or higher or better yet a yamaha or johnny/rude if i had to do what you need to do i might concider rebuilding but then again i think id have more fun taking it apart and selling it on ebay you'll make a good bit off of it enuff to prolly but a new model force wit $1500 you save from repower and the oh $700-$1000 of parts u can get off your force
potentially.

I have to agree numbaone, those force parts always sell on ebay, but would still rebuild myself if you can't afford a new motor. My rebuild went awesome! I actually just mounted the powerhead this past sunday and fired it up for the first time. Cranked right up and sounded great, still have to drop it in the lake, going to get cold here soon though. Only one problem that came out of the rebuild....................it's still a force8)
