98 Johnson 15 - flush plug leaking?

Hey everyone,

I've got a new to me 98 Johnson 15 2 stroke.

I've been going through the routine maintenance, as it appeared to have very little of it done over the years.

Rebuilt the carb, replaced water pump (impeller had two broken fins)

We took the flush plug out to run some water through it, it dislodged some junk..

Now when then motor runs, there's a slow drip coming from the plug. I was able to turn the plug another 1/4 rotation, and that slowed things down, but it's still leaking..

I assume the plug should just be replaced???

Did you take it back out and inspect for the cause?

Haven't.. that's something I can do right now.

Something stuck upstream? Forcing water to find out way out through the plug?
