98 omc 88spl; rpms jump around at low-mid throttle

Just had my power head rebuilt on my motor. I am still in the break in period. Today I was watching the rpms at idle/slow speed. They seem to kind of "float"/dance around a little bit. This basically happens until I get her up on plane and cruising. (have yet to take motor above 4k rpms). I honestly can't tell if the motor itself is doing it, or if its my head messing with me. Also, she's a little stubborn to get started. Could this just be related to the fact I'm running with twice the amount of oil in the fuel during this break in period? Or do I need to take her back in for some warranty work

It doesn't sound like it's running right. Take it back in for some warranty work. They should have tested it before it left the shop.

Some of these motors just hate the extra oil and some wont even run. Run the motor through the break in and then try it with the normal oil fuel mix.

Are you sure this is not a 1988 88 special? The engine will hunt rpm's if the two carb butterflys are not exactly in sync. Usually that "sync and link" is reverified during an overhaul.
