if you have the big red wires on the solonoid correct then I would unplug the start button and if it doesn't try to start after it is unplugged it means there is a short in the button

I appreciate the response. I'll check the start button.

I failed to mention that I tried to boost the old battery with a battery charger. What are the chances that I may have fried the electronics?

Thanks again

I doubt it,, I use jump boxes on these all the time and I have 2 batteries in every ski I own. the warning about jumping batteries is for liability reasons "explosions" and also to prevent damage from crossing the terminals by someone who has no clue about jumping a battery.

No luck...I unplugged the start button and when I connect the battery it still tries to start on it's own. Would appreciate any other thoughts/ideas.

Thanks!

No, I was very careful not to. I wish it would be something that simple. Thanks!

Re: 98 Seadoo SPX won't stop trying to start

did you get any wire conections wet/ otherwise it may be your computer messing up, it only started doing this when you replaced the battery?? be sure all the ground wires from the computer box are still good and grounding properly or some juice may be backfeeding through circuts it isn't supposed to be while it tries to find a ground, sounds strange but it happens, do a dedicated ground from the battery to the computer ground harness. then see if it works properly.

No connections got wet. Yes, it started when I replaced the battery. I have not checked the ground wires... good idea, thanks!

Finally fixed by replacing MPEM. The worst of all possible outcomes ~ $600. Thanks for all the responses and suggestions!
