motor runs great as soon as you put in lake, run down lake at 5000 rpm or whatever. stop & fish a little while , start boat to move & its like its running out of gas , after 10- 15 restarts it decides it wants to run & it runs great then. I left it running long enough to get truck & trailer, went to load boat & samething , would not run properly . I pulled cover off when I got home - carb cover seemed to have main gas line mashed , hose seemed to be soft there. could this be my problem maybe?

I'm not sure what you mean when you say "carb cover seemed to have main gas line mashed " if there is damage in your fuel line then it would be a good idea to change it.

you dont say what engine you have??

If it is a 2-stroker then it sounds very much like the reeds. As they could cause problems with a hot engine not wanting to re-start. If it was the fuel line it may not start in the first place IMHO

sorry John, 1998 johnson 225 two stroke, carb cover is " breather " air filter " . As you can see I am dumb as a box of rocks when it comes to 2-stroke motors. I do know it is not a EFI motor. Thanks so much for your attention to my problems , you guys are allright . thanks again Jon

J_E, its a 99 225 which is a big bore closed deck looper.

I wouldnt start with the reeds though. I'd look at the fuel system. Does the bulb seem flat when you try to restart? If you pump the bulb will it keep going? What grade fuel are you running? How old is it?
