Ihave '99 25 hp yamaha 4 stroke manual start. Ran great for three days then got some contaminated fuel (water in gas) but it still ran allthough it was hard to start. Got it home drained the gastank, all the lines and the carb but now it wont start at all. Any suggestions as to what else I should look for or do?

Re: '99 25 hp yamaha

try draining the carbs with small brass hex plug at bottom of float chamber. while the plug is out pump bulb to force fuel to "flush" float chamber. spray some carb cleaner into drain hole. drain carbs onto clean white rag to see what comes out. you may still have to remove and clean carbs if the jets are plugged with bad fuel. install water/fuel seperator(Walmart $27), easy to do and will prevent a lot of fuel related problems. use Stabil Marine all the time. Good Luck!

Hi Robert, you must be talking Wallmart in the States because up here in Canada, atleast where I live, they dont carry it .So I am probably going to have to buy a Yammi product which is around the $200 mark for the water/fuel separator

you can buy the fuel/water seperator from Cabela's or Overton's catalogs, ship to you within a day or 2, price about $27. Yamaha 10 Micron has to be a great product, but like so much of their stuff, pretty expensive. I've had great luck with my "store-bought" fuel/water seperator. whichever you get, it's a great investment in preventive maintenance. I just unscrew my filter canister, dump in out on a clean white rag or clean container to see what's in it, and re-install it. I know it's working because there's never any trash or water in the small plastic filter on the motor. Good Luck!
