Friend as above carbed motor and says that the motor fires right up and dies after a designated amount of time. He can the start back up and will do the same thing. If throttle is increased, motor will stall also.
Things we have addressed already are:
Replaced fuel/water sep.
New cap and rotor

Still having the same issues. Seems to me like a fuel issue.

What is the designated amount of time, how long does it run before it dies? 30 seconds? or 30 minutes?

If it is 30 seconds it is probably something in the fuel pump power circuit like the oil pressure safety switch or wiring.

Give the model details and recent history as Bond-o suggested and much more help will come.

I don't think he has had anything done to this motor. I went and winterized it for him last year and it looked neglected.
I will try to get back with more info (eng ser #) to better answer your question however:

It is carbed. No real tune up intune-up that I am aware of in last 3 years. I have had him replace: Cap, rotor, fuel/water seperator. Last fall I followed winterizing procedure, oil change, lube etc.

It runs for something like 1-2 mins and then dies. My initial thoughts are fuel pump. Where are they located? Is is mechanical or electrical?
