i'm getting no spark to any plugs, motor was running last week but now it just wont fire. the otherday it ran for a few minutes but stalled, ifound that a valve in eather hand pump or tank was stuck open allowing fuel to drain from line back to tank.i fixed the problem with lines, tried to start again nothing. i checked for spark and could not see any, i looked around motor and found what looked like a burnt black wire coming from one of my smaller harnesses. i also found plugs to be at different settings i set all to 0.30. i just bought boat NEED HELP BAD!!!

new to you? I would seriously get the factory servic manual and go through it from top to bottom.
Where does that black wire terminate?

Run a check on each individual peice of the ignition system. I just got done with this on my 68 johnson 100 hp. I ended up testing the coil, power pack, voltage regulator, voltage suppressor, wires, distrubutor, stator, rotor and the points sensor. So you have to look pretty through or youll end up replacing a bunch of stuff you dont need to (like myself) Good luck.

Capt, That motor has a fairlt sophisticated and expensive ignition system on it. You need an OEM manual to troubleshoot.

First test is to disconnect black/yellow wire at the keyswitch and see if spark returns. You really need to figure out that burned wire and repair it and the cause for burning.
