99 Johnson wont idle

when the engine is first stated it will not idle but a few seconds .then after many restarts is fine then when I try to accelerate the engine dies 3 or 4 times then after all this trouble runs fine with out skipping a beat. then while trolling it will not idle at very low speed. acts like a fuel problem. Thanks

What engine? For future reference, always provide the model number or at least the horsepower whenever you start a new thread. The model number's best. The more information you provide, the better we'll be able to help. There's an enormous difference between the 2.5 hp and the 250 hp.

I guess that would be useful. its a 200 hp ocean pro not sure of model. I was thinking ball valve or fuiel filter. Once you get it going she is gone.

Is this the same one that was overheating? Didn't you have a mechanic working on it? There are lots of reasons it might be having problems when cold. It could be something as simple as your starting and warmup procedure. Since you say it runs great after it's warmed up, maybe you should review the proper starting procedure once more, then let the thing warm up before heading away from the dock. Does it idle OK after it's warmed up? Does it run fine at all throttle settings?

Did this start after the mechanic worked on it? If so, go back and check with him.

I don't know your specific model at all, so that's about as far as I can go.

Thanks for the reply. No it has issues with idle even after warmed up but it will run wide open. just seemes to lose the fuiel at idle.
