Good Day folks . As I am somewhat of a "newbie" with all of this , I hope You'all will forgive me for leaving out any pertinent Info. I was wondering if anyone who has any experience with this swap could recommend a good prop Size & Pitch for this application. The Drive is SX-M # 3868891 1.6 Ratio in a Larson 226 LXI with 99 5.7L . The existing prop is 14.3 x 21 & is in bad shape . The boat will be used for Tubing & Cruising. I would prefer to go with Stainless . Any help would be appreciated

Thanks
J.Z.

We need your top speed, & WOT (wide open throttle) rpm, with the prop specs you've got to help.

from the sticky at the top of the forum http://forums.iboats.com/forum/gene...p-questions-and-topics/295058-read-this-first [h=2]Read This First!![/h]

ESSENTIAL DATA REQUIRED
When posting a question about propellers, you cannot get a reasonable answer unless you provide the following information in your post: Items 1-4 are essential for meaningful response to most questions.
1) Performance issue you are trying to correct.
2) Current prop manufacturer, model, aluminum or stainless as a minimum.
3) Current prop diameter and pitch (required).
4) Wide open throttle RPM and speed with an average load (very helpful)
5) Engine/drive make, model, year, and HP
6) Boat make model, year, length and weight

The below link would be a much more thorough list of data to provide if you're looking for detailed performance numbers,

Yessir you are correct. My mistake not mentioning I had purchased the boat used with a new 5.7 engine where an 5.0 used to live. I have no "baseline" to begin.

Thank you for the reply

Why dont you try try the 21 pitch, even though its a little rough, might help you with the baseline. I would think a 14.5 X 19 as a guess, but if you search around your area, you might find a prop re builder. Many of which will let you test a prop, and if the prop is incorrect, will let you keep swapping/trying other props until you find what you need.
