99 Mercury 200 EFI

When I idle out of my lagoon the temp gauge goes up to about 180. When I accelerate the temp goes down to about 150,160. Is this normal? The water pump and T-stats have been replaced. The motor runs great.

hello<br /> yep thats about normal. try the seirra t-stats for a jonnyrude next time. they vent a small amount of water and are self flushing. but most I see do this. also verify the accuracy of your gauge. and did this just start or has it always been this way?<br /> good luck and keep posting

my 99 200 efi also seem to do this and runs nice and cool at about 3500 -4000rpm .it does not like to idle for to long
