I have a 99 225 EFI and one day, while on the water, the wire harness that comes from the fuel pump burnt up all the way back to the starter solonoid and a little further back. I searched for the cause and found just a little arc spot right next to the fuel pump bracket. I replaced the purple wire red tracer, white wire green tracer and blue wire yellow tracer and of course the red and black going to the fuel pump. I took it out the other day and it ran like a champ, still a little nervous about if the chaff was the actually cause though. I think the reason the other wires burnt though was because they were bundled with the hot and ground going to the fuel pump which I have now seperated.
