Hello everyone I am new to the forum and wanted to say hi. I recently purchased a boat that had twin DT140's on it. On our last trip out on it one of the motors seems to break free after about 3000 RPMs and wont catch again until i bring it back down to almost idle on that motor. then i can bring it back up to about 3000 and just cruise but if im trying to get on plane it will just act as it is in neutral and jump up the rpms to about 7000 with out any propulsion. I have asked a few people about this issue and what was brought up to me was possible prop clutch or shift linkage but im pretty new to working on outboards and my repair manual does not refer to the prop clutch and not sure on how i should adjust the shifter linkage does anyone have any ideas on what this could be or experienced any of these symptoms on their motor?

You need a new prop hub. The center prop shaft is spinning, the rubber inbetween that and the actual prop is toast, thus the spinning...
