99 V.P. 5.0 Gi Four Winns 210 Horizon-Stalls after 25K RPM

Mechanic said to drain gas because it was "bad" (another post), replaced gas, added some injector cleaner, new gas filter ran it on the street for 30 then took it out on the lake and it still stalls out when I hit about 3K and shuts down and can only run about 5 mph (new water pump and impeller 2 months ago), when I disengage the propeller it stutters around 3K and then runs fine on up with no stalling or missing?

Any ideas? (besides getting a new boat)

You need to test the fuel system, from the pickup in the tank to the pressure on both fuel pumps. What is the full model number? Is the fuel pump making a whining noise? Does your mechanic have a scanner, it should be hooked to one so you know if there are any trouble codes present.

Model of boat? 1999 Four Winns 210 volvo penta 5.0 Gi SX Cobra, no whining noise or anything I can hear different, I was hoping not to take it back to the shop but sounds like that's what I will have to do..
