99 yahama gp1200 shows no signs of power

im buying my sisters 99 yahama gp1200 and it shows no sings of power what so ever. i put a battery in it and it acts like is still doesnt have a battery in it. the gauges wont turn on or anything but the battery is showing a full charge and works in another ski. any ideas on what the problem might be?

I hate electrical problems. I assume you have the safety lanyard attached.

Here are schematics for your system - there is an electrical 1 and an electrical 2 check both

Before you do above, wire brush the wire terminals which connect to the battery. This is a common problem on old GP's, I learned this the hard way.

Yamahas have a security system on them. They will act very dead until you enter the code. If you haven't found out yet, you need to press the "A" on the gauge 4 times. It will then say start, and it will crank. I hope this is the problem.
