I just purchased a striper boat with a 99 Yahama V225TLRX s/n 66KL300703U. The motor starts fine but cuts out for a second about every 10-15 seconds at rpms over 2500. runs pretty good if i stay below 2500 rpm but if i try to accelerate it cuts out and then comes back. it violently stops to the point where it throws me forward if i get it up to 30 mph and then takes off again. This boat was left unused for the last year so I pumped out some fuel (new fuel that I used to fill up (87 octane) expecting water but there was no water. Fuel filter looks clean but I didn't have a replacement to put in. I'm not sure what to look for next. I also put the fuel that was in the filter in a mason jar looking for water but there wasn't any. I was thinking of replacing the fuel bulb and fuel line since it appears to not be getting fuel at high rpms but that is just a novice guess. I pulled the plugs and they don't look bad to me. A little dirty but didn't appear to be bad enough to cause this type of problem. The previous owner claimed that the motor was serviced by the dealer last Spring and no major problems and that the boat ran fine when last used last Summer. Any recommendations on what this problem could be?
