I have a 1982 18 ft Maidencraft with OMC Stern Drive. The steering cable broke up at the steering column. I am fairly mechanically inclined. Is replacing the cable something I can tackle or do I take it to a professional? I am having trouble locating how to disconnect the cable from the outdrive. 
Help would be appreciated. Can anyone give me some insight to get me started on how to remove the old cable?
