Well,
I thought someone might like to see a pic of my '53 RD-15 25hp and '56 fastwin 15. I think I put the fastwin decal in the wrong place and also used '51 decals on my '53 25hp. But I like 'em and my motor model says she likes 'em too. But she's a little biased!;)

Looking to run them this weekend...
Later,
JBJ

I like them too! They came out great. I really like the look of them better than my '59 18HP with the fiberglass hoods.

Of course, my '59 never spent a day indoors, that I know of.

They look nice! The '51 decals make the RD look like the 1st year 25 ('cept for the carrying handles).

So JB, what is your opinion on the early 25s? I'm talking about the 1951-54 style. A guy local to me has a '52 & '53 for sale as a pair. Not that I have a boat for them.

Re: A couple of incorrectly restored OMC's

Hey Cam,
My '53 has no vibration dampening whatsoever, nor does it have sound insulation. So other than being a LOUD, vibrating thumper, I really like it.:)
I'm going to try getting some stick-on firewall insulation and putting it in the cowl so it won't be so loud. You won't have to worry about the neighborhood kids taking it for a joyride, either. It takes a MAN to crank that bad boy. It usually takes me about 5 pulls cold to crank it, only one when warm. But a good stout "one pull" at that. And they didn't get e-start on 'em until '54. My 54 bigtwin seems to be a little quieter but I have no idea why. If you want to see/hear one run, go to youtube and try this:

The '53 pre-paint and the '54 are on there. I'm going to try to post a new one for the '53 today if I get time.
Thanks,
Jason

What a mess you made, Jason. You really need more practise. Being the good friend I am, I'm willing to keep sending you motors to paint and decal until you finally get it right. :)

Cam, I think those old 25 hp's are nice motors. I've had 1953 and currently have a 1954 that's restored mechanically, but I haven't run it. I too found my 1953 quieter than Jason's. If you pick one up I'd be happy to pop by and give you hand sometime. Here is my old 1953 Evinrude before I sold it.

Tsk, tsk...as a designated old outboard investigator, I'm gonna have to confiscate both those outboards JB. Just kidding, they look great. If you like them...they are correct.
