First of all hi to everyone here.

I am looking to purchase a boat shortly and have been looking at 24' to 28' bayliner cierra sunbridge models.

I am leaning towards a 91' 2855 cierra sunbridge. It appears to be in good condition and pretty reasonably priced ~13k

My questions is this: the engine in a 5.7 merc rated at 225 hp and I'm not sure if that's enough power. Also I don't know what kind of fuel consumption to expect with this setup. I have heard a wide range of numbers so I'd love to hear from someone who has owned one.

Lotta variables in how much power you need to satisfy you. Need to look at what you want to do, how much weight you are going to drag around (boat and occupants).

Probably a search for mph or gph would turn up some answers, Used to burn 3-4 gph on a 120 I/O in a days fun, meaning all sorts of rpm ranges and loads. SWAGging you are probably looking at 8 to 10 gph when running at-near WOT. Backing off to 1/2 to 3/4 throtttle usually has a marked impact.

Things like tabs (Smart Tabs) for one help you to get more with less by offsetting the weight distribution with I/O's especially when everyone is in the aft cockpit.
