ok so I put on a stainless prop today and am so impressed with it:) I gained about 4mph so that made me happy. Now I was talking to a dealer and he said that my motor was mounted on my boat wrong. He said it was mounted at its lowest setting and with my 20in transom I should have it up to the top mount. He said I have to much drag and should gain a good amount of power back if this is corrected (5-7mph he said). What do you guys think about this? I did notice that when trimmed down at WOT the motor is dragging quite a biut by the splashing comming off of the lower unit. Do you think this will make a big difference?

Re: a few questions

The antiventilation plate (the flat plate just above the prop) should be flush to and inch or so above the bottom of the boat. That's a starting point for engine mounting height. You go up or down from there.

Also, when running @ WOT, the top of the cav plate should not be covered with water. If it is, start raising the motor a hole at a time.
