Re: A good Cleaner

I use good bathroom mildew cleaner. The one I like is Clorox Mildew Cleaner. It sprays on and wipes off. I?m not sure if it will cause damage to the vinyl or not. I?m on three year of using it and not issues. Make sure when your done cleaning the vinyl you spray it with armor all or some other material moisturizer and protectant. I spray my boat down every time I put the cover on. A boater?s best friend can be Mr. Clean Magic erasers. As with all chemicals and cleaners, try them in a non conspicuous spot first. My wife used a Mr. Clean eraser on the sides of my painted aluminum boat and it made all the paint look dull because it put tons of tiny scratches in the finish.

I use mostly 303 products - the vinyl cleaner and aerospace protectant - I highly recommend both....

Don't use bathroom cleaners on vinyl. The grit and bleach should be a last resort, as this will harm the vinyl. Start with boat soap or laundry soap and water. If that doesn't do it, use some Spray 9 cleaner or Castrol Superclean.

Treat all vinyl with some kind of vinyl protectant (Armorall or other stuff) after it has been cleaned. This will protect it from UV rays of the sun.

when using products like Armorall, consider the slippery effect--there's a reason you don't use it on motorcycle seats; same applies to some boat seating such as benches.

Thanks for all the replies. I have tried soap and water, and a few cleaners but they haven't done much. Did some reading up on 303 so I might give that a shot.

Don't ever use a product with bleach in it. It will ruin the stitching.

I'm sure you've heard of "Awesome Orange". Dollar General has their own generic version called "Awesome". A professional detailer told me about it. It works great and it's very inexpensive. I picked up a 1qt. spray bottle of the stuff, along with a 1gal. refill for less than 5.00. It's only a cleaner/degreaser, though. It's not a protectant.
