Just wanted to share my great day on the water. We went to Lake Michigan for the day. EVERYONE was on the water, but everyone was respectful of the other boaters and everyone was in a good mood! I think everyone was just in a great mood as our weather here in michigan has not been the greatest the last few weeks. It was probably our last good outing for the season, besides a few color tours. I put some STA-BIL in the gas before we headed out. We put in at South Haven and went up to Saugatuck and back then ancored for the rest of the day! We just had a really good day on the water and wanted to share. Here are a few photos..............

RB - I thought some of those backdrops looked familiar. Are those dunes around the oval beach area? We have been to Saugatuck many times and would love to boat on Southwestern Lake Michigan! I'm jealous.

We had a great day on Saturday on Lake Delevan in Wisconsin. LOve that lake. Wish I had pics. Tubed, cruised and anchored all day. I'm with you on # of days left, its going to be hard now to get back on!

RB - BTW, wheres youre launch site at?

We put in at South Haven. Those pictures were taken south of the south haven peir and north of palisades power plant. We just cruised up to Saugatuck and came back. I have never been to oval beach, but have heard that there is a nude beach behind the dune there. :D

I'm glad everyone enjoyed themselves. I gotta say, there were no idiots on the water this weekend, it was almost surreal. The only complaint I had was some guy riding his jetboat between our boats and the shore, right over the anchor lines. Luckily it was only a jet boat, but the lines could have still gotten into his impeller.

The one thing I wish I could have had a camera for was the giant spotted eagle rays. All day Saturday and Sunday they were jumping completely out of the water, it was amazing. They were about five feet across.

The boat ran great, which was a relief!:D

I just posted about the morning I spent fishing yesterday:

Crazy thick fog. No sun & fun like you guys experienced (at least not until the fog burned off), but a really cool experience in its own way.

Beisdes the launch (stay tuned to stupid human tricks), yesterday was probably one of our best days on the lake. Everything went well and had a nice time, other that tweaking my ankle falling out of a too tight wakeboard binding. The boat was just awesome, and the prop eating lake didnt get me this time around :D

Still in the 90s, so I hope to have good boating in to October.

Wow I cant believe how many people are on that long pier at South Haven.
There are always a lot of people out at Lake Michigan in Racine, Kenosha and Milwaukee but never like that, Chicago has a lot of people at the lake all the time but they also have 8 million people in the metro.
We launched out of Racine, motored down to Kenosha, floated around off the beach for awhile, cruised the channel there and then came back to Racine and grilled some hamburgers about 2 miles offshore.
Just got back a little bit ago, was a very nice weekend.

Quite a few boats out here, lots of sail boats and some good wind for them. There is so much room and all the berths are wide and clear.

I went out on Lake Michigan today so of course there were 1'-3' waves........
Saw a good boat name in the Kenosha harbor, Rainmaker.

It was crazy busy out there, but like I said, no probelms! It was prolly the best day out on the lake this year. I did get the finger on the way home........a guy pulled out in front of me and I had to hit the brakes. Then he proceeded to turn a 1/2 mile down the road and I blew the horn and I got the finger! ohh well, I had a blast!

WOW, what a great weekend. After a short, very wet summer we finally had 3 days of great boating weather. After working on the new to me '08 pontoon since May, I finally got the gauges working, the motor running g reat, lights all working and most important, the tunes going. (winter storage accident).
I was finally able to take my granddaughters, my oldest daughter and my wife out for a few good days on the water. Yes, all girls. I live on the Estrogen Ocean. With an average of 25c degrees (77f degrees) and nearly 250 sq. kilometers (100 sq.mi.) of waters in the Muskokas to boat on, we didn't see the same shoreline twice. My girls had a ball, swimming off the boat, cruising the lakes, and stopping for ice cream. Thank God, the last adddition to the pontoon was a porta potty. All the work was now worth it. My gas tank and my wallet are somewhat lighter but what the hell, you can't take it with you.

The park where we launch from was having a BBQ, the same day there was an air show at Toronto Harbor. You could imagine the parking nightmare, took me 1.5hours to get a spot after launching the boat, even then I had to unhook the trailer and slide it under the truck (can you say hernia?). The entire launch parking area was full of single cars. Man there was some unhappy boaters at the launch today. Once I hit the water it was super choppy, with about 2-3foot waves comming from random directions...making it a handful. The wind made it difficult to dock at the slip we rented for the day in Toronto harbor making me look like a total idiot in front of about 20 bystanders that jumped in to give me a hand.....and dinner sucked. I stubbed my already BROKEN big toe on the dock cleat...holy cow..damn near passed out. Then ten minutes later my wife stepped on it, when trying to get a blanket out from under the bow seats.

But..geez...it's so nice to be out on the water and not cutting the lawn! Hehe..great day anyhow...even got a sunburn.

Ian, your biggest problem is your sense of direction. You should have went North, not South. Lake Joseph and Rosseau were BEAUTIFUL.

I love being on vacation. I've been out Saturday, Sunday, Monday, and today (Tuesday-Sunday soon to come). Today was great, only three other boats on the island, found some good shark teeth. The water was like glass in the bay. It was wonderful.

Yeah, Belwood is really weedy. I haven't been to Conestoga in years. A fishing buddy has a family cottage there. He's never said anything negative about it.
