i want to check for a spun hub
i was toll to mark a line from the center of the hub all the way out to the metal part of the prop.
to see if it slips. does this mean to mark on the inside of the propeller on the propeller nut and along the inside of the propeller.also the blades are a little bumped up on the edges of the propeller, should i leave them like this or is it ok to take a file and smooth them. i plan on taking the boat out tommorrw to check the hub .

Re: a green horn question-ASAP

The only palce that needs to be marked on the prop is at any point where the hub meets the prop. That way if it slips you can readily tell by looking at the mark.

On filing the prop - I have filed minor nicks for years with no problem. Take it to a prop shop for anything more than that. When a good prop shop reconditions a prop they will rehub it and pound out any "dents" and other imperfections.
