God Bless America! Eagles are very regal birds, and a great symbol for our country. I'm sure glad that Ben Franklin didn't get his way with the turkey! They are also great fun when fishing to throw a fish and watch them fly down and grab it from the water.

I was out by the lake a couple of hours ago and the was an eagle about 50 feet offshore, standing on the ice and glaring down at it. Gave me a chuckle.

I've had the honor and priviledge of seeing Bald Eagles throughout my life in the mountains of New York. My mother and I have 22 1/3 acres at the top of a mountain in the Catskills. Every morning at 0530hrs, a pair of them, and sometimes only one, will be circling above the property. I move down south and see Bald Eagles on Lake Seminole, Georgia/Florida... God Bless America!!!

This is a picture I took by our house. I was driving with my 10 year old and I had to slam on the brakes to show him something he would probably never see again in his life. We parked and walked up (very slowly) to within 10 feet of this:

This bad boy stood about 2 1/2' tall and could care less that we were watching him eat. By the time we decided to leave, there were 10+ cars parked in the center of the street and 20+ people standing behind me and watching/taking pics.

I really hope, that is not the only time your boy gets to see a bald eagle, they are a very impressive bird, and they do inspire the hearts of men and women when your in a place with no chance to see them, it was amazing, when I was serving overseas, how many bald eagle posters we had in the various areas of our camps, most of my men carried a picture of an eagle in their wallet right next to the picture of their family.

I am very fortunate, I see eagles at least every other day where I live, and in fact saw 11 of them today, our snow is starting to melt and they are on the prowl, looking for the winter kill.

Nice picture...

Same here. We see eagles all the time. Usually, wherever there's a dead deer along the road, you'll see at least one eagle among the ravens... There's no mistaken their screech either....

Very cool!
We have a pair nesting near the lake place, and yes, there is no mistaking that screech.
