EVEING ALL.......tossing round some ideas here .was wonderin if it would be possible to change power heads from my 1983 115 to a 140 and still use the exsisting lower unit ? Ive checked some of the part numbers and they come up the same ie; the drive shaft ,exhaust housing ,but not the exhaust adapter......is this swap possible? would the 140 exhuast adapter mount to my upper leg assembly......anybody ever tried this one?.. thks all

Hey man, been wondering where you were. Was going to holler at you but having no subject, other than wanting to chat, I'd have to put it in the chat section and I don't ever go there.

If you are talking about a Merc, gonna bet you are OK fine. I think all their I6's were pretty much set up with the same castings and interconnects thru their Blue Band 150. But I don't know.

Been racing any lately and beins you are in the southern hemisphere, you're going into summer aren't you?

What did you decide on the ladies boat?

Re: A LONG SHOT

if both are 1983 models it will swap.
you will lose the advantage of the tuned exhaust on the 140.
if your close enough to kitty hawk I have an 83 0r 84 140 thats has a bad power head due to a sinking some years back that is going to the scrap mound sooner or later.
I have until febuary to move and its not gonna go :).
as far as any real powergains by the swap you most likly wont see any.
I recently repowered from a rebuilt 95 112 to an E-tec 175 and only picked up about 20 MPH.
so going from a crossflow 115 to a crossflow 140 you just wont see a lot without the 140 exhaust and some playing.

Hey Mark

I've been here but harldy responded to any posts, I am busy moving to a new house and also work is very hectic this time of year, and on top of that training for the race at the end of this year from 28 december to the finish on the 1st of January - 920 miles in total, summer just started and it is hot over here, I allready have a good tan :) ...... I haven't raced for little while, trying to finish my new design inflatable for the race at the end of the year, I built a much lighter but stronger boat, so we'll see how it goes ..... for the ladies boat ... I got her the bayliner with a optimax 250 sx, but she doesn't know about it, wanto give it as a Xmas present, so it is standing at work, looks good, and I am burning to take it for a spin, but I will just have to wait ... I will need to tow it down to my holiday house in the week to go park it in the garage there as we go there for xmas .... and a nice 3 week holiday ... can't wait, I take leave from work from the 15th Dec till the 15th Jan ... so busy planning that too ....... how are things with you Mark?

Re: A LONG SHOT

Things fine here. Thanks for asking.

Tell us how the wife likes her present.

920 miles is a long race. Guess you and your rig have to be in top physical condition for a marathon like that.

Looks like your plate's full. Hope everything works out.

Re: A LONG SHOT

Thanx Mark, I hope I win .... no scratch that, I have to win, then get even bigger sponsors ..... hopefully .... I'm not getting enough free stuff from my current ones :) ... you are right about my rig and my fitness level, I have to be in tip top shape and have to run a brand new rig with every race, afterwards the boat is junk, but is kept for practising ..... I'm at my fittest level at the moment so I am good to go, wel according to my heart monitor anyway ... :) .... Will let you know what the wife says about the xmas present, can't wait to see her face .....
