First day out after replacing gimbal bearing, U-Joints, and coupling assembly.
It ran great at idle when I tried to get up on plane a roaring sound started to come from the back of the engine it sounded like sand paper on a turning piece of metal. When I backed it off plane the sound went away. it seemed to be positional l when the wheel was turned hard to one side or the other the sound came back also when I had the trim in any other position other than all the way down.
The sound did seem to get better as I idled the back to the dock

Did you check the alignment when you put the drive shaft back in?

Yes the alingment was fine I assume equal grease marks from the splines on the alingment tool.
Wondering if the transome assembly could be lose and moving when torque is applied. ie.. throttling up, trimming up under power, or turning hard to one side or the other.

Yes they are tight and all parts are in place. Went out and ran the boat on the hose. As I was looking down and the coupling assembly I noticed it was out of center ever so slightly. Just can tell that it is wobbling.
