I am sure you all know this. I did but forgot. A few weeks ago we did a 50 mile trip on a river with 40 feet showing consistently. Not paying attention, we entered the lake and I hit a rocky area and damaged my prop on my 90 horse Merc. Pretty hard to get the nut off even with the correct tools. Fortunately I had wrapped 18" of 2x4 to keep the emergency gas can from rubbing on the fence. Worked perfectly to block the prop while I got the nut loose and replaced the prop. 2 cent item that saved the day. A permanent item on my boat now!

Some times you can never carry everything to help out. Luckily you manage to make-shift what you needed. Ingenuity is the key to success so many times. But who knows if you will have the needed things in the event something else crops up... Preparation does help, but those odd things have to be solved as they arise... :thumb:

How about a boat oar? When pulling the family around for watersports, my kicker and/or trolling motor get removed, so I lose my secondary propulsion device in emergencies. However, the oar never gets removed.
