On a rack---Useful if you do not own a trailer or do not have a driveway ------It won't sink.------No barnacles.----Harder to steal.----Less corrosion.------Marina can accommodate more folks as wet slips are expensive !
That's my first impression too. Too many boats get left out in the weather and show their age when a little TLC keeps them looking like new. Like my tractors, if I can't afford to cover it, I can't afford to have it in the first place.
indoor and outdoor rack storage is common where there are more boats than places to store them on land. I cant justify paying for rack storage. I have a friend that does, and the monthly storage is about equal to a car payment.
Convenience costs money.-----Not a problem for many folks.----Some just love their premium / speciel flavor coffee at $ 35 / gallon.----Convenience of calling the marina to have the boat in the water at 2 PM is not a problem for many folks.
I was talking to my co-worker just this past Tuesday, his marina stores his boat for him on the trailer in a pole barn, all they need is a 1-hour advance notice to have it at the dock ready to go, $100 per month (gas is extra) but that is a country marina away from high priced city dockage
