If you are talking about thickness, I have no idea 1/16" or so.....
While cutting your own gaskets sounds like a good idea, what are you going to do about the large rubber O ring or the water passage o ring?....
They should be repaced every time you remove the drive......
That large o ring is the only thing that keeps water out of your bellows.....;)

I intended to keep the same o-rings. if you examine them closely and see no faults to them is it bad to put the same with a litle sealant?By the way does any body knows if the large o-ring of the pre-alpha 228 drive is circular or squared?

It is square.....;)
My advice is to not reuse those O rings even though they look OK......
Since I have not seen you posting with engine questions, I assume you have finally got it running right.....
I would not risk the damage you can do with an old gasket, my friend...:)
Even if that new gasket set cost 15-20 Euro, I would still get it.....;)

Capt Jason
First of all i' ll never again risk sinking my boat not because i'll never make a mistake but because this season i'll do this trick with the hole above the gimbal bearing that i hope it 'll work.I'll pass a thin metal hose through that hole sealing it with epoxy glue that will go inside the boat and i'll extend it a litle with a tranparent hose with the end taped so that i 'll be able to see it ocasionaly when lifting the engine's cover.Possibly i 'll make or use a ready one water alarm that i'll attach to the end of this transparent hose. How do you find my idea?
Second if it was 10 $ i wouldn't think about it.Including the tranporting fee it would cost me about 30Euros (day wages 45Euros).But since Haut Medoc suggests too to replace them i'll do it.As about my engine problems i don't forget that i have to report back from my last thread and i'll do it soon.Thanks.
