aa few problems with the 40 johnson

ok i have a 69 boston whaler and a long time a go some on put a 70 40 hp hydro electric shift johnson on it<br /><br />well it runs fine but the shifter cable is frozen so i un hooked it from the motor with the motor running i gave it some gas and it just reved up it didnt go any where does the shifter have to be hooked up <br />how does it know i want to go forward or back wards<br /><br />also when i took the lid of i knowtised that there was3 small box looking things with small red wire wraped around it what ever those are for there not hooked up<br />what do those go to<br /><br />this is my first boat so please bare with me

Howdy, IB.<br /><br />Your engine shifts electrohydraulicly, not by cable.<br /><br />If you are sure that it is a '70, order a manual at the bottom of the page.<br /><br />If you are not sure, give us the model number and we can id the year.<br /><br />Good luck. :)
