Does all the old carpet glue have to be removed from the Alum. deck before new glue & carpet applied ? All the old carpet backing is off but there is still a thin hard layer of glue on there. What would be the best way to remove it,if it needs to come off ?

Depends on how smooth or lumpy you want the floor to be. Myself I am a bit of a perfectionist, so I would get out the heat gun and a putty knife and go after it.

when you say deck leaves alot post a pic of your situation. load your pictures to photobucket, then clik the small box under the pictures you want to post, go to the bottom of the page, clik generate HTLM. it will go to another page, about the 3rd section down it will say thumb nails for message boards, clik the box, and copy. then when posting in the forum, at the end of the post just paste the HTML, and click add reply. this is the easiest way to post pictures.

lebruce..just get what you can in a reasonable amount of effort and time and recement the carpet back on m8..

However..be sure to completly clean your edges ! that is most important !
