Hi...I just bought a boat with a volvo sx sterndrive. guy I got it from had several props he gave me with the boat. I need to replace the prop he had on the boat and I want to put on the best spare he gave me. Problem is that when i insert the prop tight against the thrust washer, I have no room for a spacer before the nut. Is this common with replacement, non-oem props? Can i use just a flat washer to tighten the nut against the prop?

Re: about installing prop

have you tried any of the others? Do they fit the same as the one that came off?
Is the prop acually for that drive? Sounds like it may not be.

Re: about installing prop

The prop i'm trying to put on has been on the boat before. I have 3 total props. One is a dinged up oem that clearly uses the spacer. The other that I just hit bottom with is i believe a turning point prop that uses a different spacer than the oem prop. That one is being rebuilt. But the 3rd prop, that is still in good shape and has been on this drive before appears to not use the spacer. It goes on as far as being flush with the splines.

Then id try #3 and have your prop guy look at #2 to see what spacer you need.
