about to wake a sleeping motor

I read the FAQ, and i've done everything in it. I replaced all the electronics, cleaned it up nicely, and changed the spark plugs. I will squirt oil in there before i start it, but its been sitting in a shed for 4-6 years. It spins by hand, and it builds compression, so im just waiting to turn the key.

anyone else have some ideas what to do before i start it? Im going to seafoam it when it gets running, because my other 115 johnson had a broken ring because of "coking".

water source, and it you've done everything in the faq, turn the key. i like to check compression w/ guage and spark before ever starting. that way if you have one really low, you investigate first, before you break something. just had a 55hp that had 100, 90, 100 compression, dry, that the bearings were bad, and had 2 broken rings, how it had that compression, we can't figure out.

the impeller was changed, along with the fluid from the lower unit. I will be starting it on muffs, and i could probably check the compression before i start it, if i can find my compression checker. should i squirt the oil in the cylinders and then rotate it by hand a few times?

Re: about to wake a sleeping motor

would not hurt. then turn over a couple of times with plugs out, to blow out extra oil.
