Hey Guys:

I have 1999 mercury 150 EFI which did something yesterday it had never done before.

I hooked the hose up to the washout port turned on the hose and went to the back of the boat and the motor was peeing (water was flowing out the water pump indicator) the motor was turned off and was cold – it had not been run since Oct.

It has never (pee’ed) before like that - till the engine was running and started to warm up.

Is this a problem?

Thanks

Time to check the thermostats. They might be stuck open. Maybe the poppit valve, anybody know more on this. Mine never pees unless the thermostats are open.

T stat was open. I have seen them stick open or closed. Just keep your eye on it. I don't think you will have to worry about it. Prob a temp thing. Tim

I have a different engine; 02 90 hp and it had a stuck thermostat shut. The first time it did it the horn went off while I was in the no wake zone leaving the harbor. I looked at the telltale and it was peeing just fine.

Later I read in my service manual that the pee does not mean that water is circulating thru the power head; only that it is available for circulation....my stuck thermostat proved that.

Don't know how your 150 is set up.

Mark
