Absolutely no power from ignition switch to engine

I have a volvo penta AQ125B. Boat started and ran fine up until today. Went to start it, and it cranked and cranked. Changed distributor cap, new plugs, and wires. Still cranking, not starting. Timing was set few days ago. Thought I'd fix the trim switch because it was hot wired. Got the new relays and switch. Put them in, worked like a charm. Went to start boat, cranking, cranking, not starting. Very confusing. Gave it a rest, went to start it again, absolutely nothing. No power from ignition switch to starter. Maybe the solenoid? I don't know. This boat has been a headache since I bought it. Thought maybe I switched the main power switch that cuts all power to the electrical system, but I can't find one even though the manual says it has one but doesn't say where to find it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Absolutely no power from ignition switch to engine

I'm pretty sure the ignition switch is shot. I changed the relay, and got no response. Jumped the solenoid, and starter turned. I'm getting no readings on the panel. Still doesn't explain why it cranked and cranked and didn't start before the ignition switch died when it started just fine yesterday. I guess that's what I get for buying somebody else's headache. Losing hope for an enjoyable summer on the boat.

Does your boat have a lanyard? If so, have you checked it? That damn thing has cause more than one person grief.

Got it all figured out. Replaced ignition switch and got it to crank again. Ended up replacing electronic ignition in distributor, and that made everything work perfectly. Thanks for the suggestion, though.
