I have a Cajun 17.5' fish-n-ski with a 1992 johnson 115 V4 engine. I have had the boat for about a year and have taken it out 4 or 5 times. Since I got the boat, I have had problems with the boat's initial acceleration (before it planes out). It seems like the engine "bogs-down" initially. Then eventually, it will plane out. At WOT, it's around 5500rpm, and seems to run great once it planes out. After a previous posting, I removed the carbs and cleaned them thoroughly. They were pretty "gunked up". I put them back on and replaced the fuel filter, and the plugs. The engine seemed to run better for a short while, then went back to the acceleration problem. This really doesn't seem to be a prop issue, and now I don't think it's an issue of clean carbs. Could it be something weird with the fuel? I'm open for suggestions and appreciate your comments.

Thanks,
Dusty

Hi, Dusty.

You may have a sticking stator, the plate that advances the ignition when you open the throttle.

Good luck. :)
