I'm trying to rewire the accessories on my boat. This is how it's set up and I thought I'd better have you folks check it out and advise me on any obvious blunders:

The battery is located near the back of the boat while the fuse block is under the pilots console, connected by about 12 feet of 8 guage wire, then a 20 amp main breaker on the positive side, which feeds the fuse block containg the fuses leading to the switches for a 1600 gph bilge pump , nav and anchor lights, and live well pump, the guages, and guage lights. There'a also a remote control searchlight with a 10 amp inline fuse and a horn with a 5 amp inline fuse on the other side of the 20 amp breaker The ground wires are connected via a ground bar near the fuse panel. The accessory wires are 14 guage.

My thanks in advance!

yea sounds good to me. The circuit breaker may be a tad small. It won't hurt anything but you may find you trip it often. But running only 8 gauge wire its prolly the safe way to go. Make sure your breaker is as close to the battery as you can get it, and I avoid the autoresetting ones if I can.
