Hello,

I have a 4 switch panel that consists of the following switches;

1. Bilge Pump
2. Navigation Lights
3. Horn
4. Unknown. I cant figure this one out.

The fuse panel has separate fuses for all of these switches. The fuse marked "Accy" (I am thinking this is accessories) is for this unknown switch.

How do I figure out what this is for? I dont have any accessories. I have a stereo that has its own fuse.....

I dnt have anything else on board that it could be?
Any ideas?

Thanks

Re: Accessory Switch

Does your boat have a separate anchor (all round white) light? Could be for that, or for powering a VHF/27MHz radio, or a GPS, or a sounder... or, well, anything really. If you really haven't got anything else, then it may simply be someone installed a four switch panel when only three switchable circuits exist, making the fourth redundant. Some photos would help clear up your mystery.

Re: Accessory Switch

Thanks Triton II. I will post photos as soon as possible. I dont have an anchor light. One other thing to mention. the LED light on the switch is on, with the switch in the on position. Doesn't this mean that it must go somewhere since the circuit is "complete", allowing the LED to illuminate?

Re: Accessory Switch

I bet its just a spare . My dash has 3 accessory toggle switches. I used 1 for my stereo and another for my depth finder. ... You stated you have no anchor light, are you sure your number 2 switch doesn't have 3 positions ? Mine has... OFF - [middle position]....NAV- [Up position] -navigation lights, both front red/green and rear white light is on, also, my dash lights are illuminated, just like a car when you turn the headlights on, so I can see all my gauges etc. Then [Down position]- ANC [anchor]- front nav light and dash panel lights off, only the rear anchor light is on...........I also think the switch LED will be lit weather or not its hooked up to anything. Can ya get under the dash and look to see if any wires are hooked up to the switch ? Or do ya just have two empty connectors on the back of the switch looking for something to do ?;):D

Re: Accessory Switch

Time to buy a fishfinder and see if that switch works. That would be my excuse to buy a toy for the boat.

Re: Accessory Switch

Look at the back of the switch. The switch obviously has power to it since the indicator works. Many of those unused switches have a short pigtail wire with a butt splice connector attached. The pigtail will be about six inches long and is wired to LOAD side of the switch. And by the way -- all of the devices you mentioned that you have on your boat are by definition "accessories" although some are standard so they are labeled accordingly. Therefore the boat manufacturer provided one or more switches simply labeled "Accessory" so you can add whatever you wish.

Livewell/bait well? Raw water wash down pump? As ST posted, look at the back of the switch and see if any wires come from it. Post a pic if needed.
