Well before i start telling the back story. Let me provide some info. This is my soon to be father inlaws boat its a 1986 bayliner fish and ski with a 1986 force 125 outboard. (Model a) he had it completely restored after sitting for 15ish years the motor had very low hours they are thinking somewhere around 10 . Well after a very long battle with things coming up and random issues with the motor we took it out for the first time the other day. We were out for about an hour putting it through paces seeing how it would run. It was fantastic motor was running great smooth as could be so we opened it up. Shortly after we gotta little high and came down hard. The killswitch was pulled by a baddly placed purse when we came down. Well after a minute or 2 of trying figure out what was going on we put tge killswitch back on and it fired right up but there was what felt like a very random but constant miss fire. If we keep it in high idle it will stay running but have that miss but once we brought it down to low idle to go in gear so we could get back to the launch it will die. Well after about 10 min of trying the batteries were getting low so we played it say and switch to a trolling motor. And spent an hour making our way back.
We got the boat home and it was off and on raining so we waited till the next day to put muffs on it and see what we could do.
We were able to get it flushed but didnt want to run it anylonger to prevent any damage.
So my question is what could be causing it to randomly miss like that. I put a inline spark tester on each cylinder and all 4 showed spark. It wasnt very bright but it was there(i know on cyl2 for sure.... had my finger alittle to close to the plastic housing of the tester lol). I also looked at all the magnets for the stator and they all look good. fuel was filled last year with correct ratio. I checked the screen in the pump and it was clean. Also the spark plugs are 2 years old and the motor has run maybe 4 times for 5 minutes ish each time before this.
Any idea on what could be the issue
