If I am worried about a high RPM reading at WOT how can I verify that I am getting an accurate reading on my gauges? Does anyone know where the rev-limiter is set for a Mercruiser 4.3 MPI?

If your not sure about your engine you should consult your dealer or buy yourself a manual for your engine. If your boat is computerized or, fuel injected you SHOULD not be able to "over rev" it.

I'm not sure they have one. They float-out if the Revs get too high. Basically the valves don't keep up and the motor can't breath to go faster. Most will survive this situation within reason. If you were to suddenly lose thrust under a load, then the RPMs can spike much higher and break parts. In other words, don't go jumping waves at full throttle. ;)

Most 4.3 motors red line around 4800 or 5000... <br />I would think 4600 to be safe..
