I am interested in finding out more about alternative medical therapies, has anyone here ever subscribed to such types of treatment?

My daughter the Physical Therapist has used acupressure on me to relieve pain. It works.

A chriopractor near here uses acupressure and accupunctire both. I have never been but several friends have. They say the accupuncture works wonders.

I've done the acupuncture thing and it works.

Felt weird being able to see needles sticking out of my face, but once I got over that, I'd fall asleep on the table.

I've used it for a back problem and it does work where the chiroprators did not. Don't go to just anyone that has a sign hung out front that says accupunture. Get a referral from a reputable doctor or physical therapy clinic or the like. If needles are 'unsanitary' you could catch some terrible disease.

Vlad, if you need a volunteer to stick needles in you, maybe I can help. ;)

Actually, I've heard many good things about accupressure and acupuncture. It certainly can't hurt. Go for it. :)

Re: Acupunture anyone?

Thankyou all for the positive feedback, i don't want to go back to being dependant on pain-pills again.
My regular doctor, not the specialist, suggested that i should think about alternative therapies, i am seriously contemplating acupunture.
The specialist which i've been seeing for the past six months wants me to go through another round of treatment which has'nt done me much good so far, i told him that i did not want to continue on that road and i did not want to have any more steriod injections into my spine.

LadyFish
Member # 20414 posted October 27, 2005 09:57 AM
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Vlad, if you need a volunteer to stick needles in you, maybe I can help.
_______________________________________________________________________

LF, how about i send you a voodoo doll and some pins? :D

I know that you have been taking names for quite some time, and since i'm not included on your list i am not going to be as worried as some folks around here ;) :D

No need Vlad. I have many. I'll just rip the head off of NYM's and replace it with a new one and call it Vlad. His was getting pretty worn out anyway. :p ;) :D

Re: Acupunture anyone?

I have had accupuncture from 2 different practioners. One who claimed to be am M.D. in China (but not here in the U.S.A.), was more like a production line set-up, that wanted me to get 4 treatments a week. After 2 weeks I didn't return because of lack of results and high expense. I tried other treatments that gave temporary results. Then at the advice of my son, I went to an accupuncturist that treats horses at Belmont Race Track. After 4 treatments I feel very good and have not had to return in the past year. The only down side is she is always busy.
